Spending our time in the presence of horses, in any capacity, is a privilege. It is also a privilege to be able to capture our time with them. Everyone loves a photo with a blue ribbon, but what about the quiet moments? Need something a little different than what's outlined above? No worries! I treat all my sessions like a custom package. We can add more time, outfit changes, locations, black background images, whatever you need. I'm always open to new ideas, and consultations are commitment free.

How can I prepare?

Every session is what you want to make of it! Do as little or as much preparation as you see fit. If you choose to groom your horse, please do so prior to the start of the session. If your horse is fresh I also suggest some hand-walking or lunging beforehand. Having an extra set of hands is also helpful especially if you are doing any outfit changes.

How do I pay?

I will send you a contract and invoice upon booking. All sessions, unless booked less than one week out, require a 30% deposit to secure your date. You can pay directly through the invoice using a credit card, or you can pay in person. Payment plans are available

What happens if the weather is unfavorable on the day of an outdoor shoot?

I always try to have a rain date planned in the case that inclement weather prevents a shoot from happening. Everyone wants a bright sunny day, but that's not always in the cards. I will shoot through cloudy days and light rain. Unless we are forced to reschedule, I leave it up to the clients discretion if they want to reschedule due to the cold, wind, or drizzle.

Do you travel?

Yes! Travel fees will be required 50 miles past Lynchburg, Virginia. Due to my full-time job, long distance travel will often be limited to over holidays and the summer.

How do I receive my photos?

Portraits & Black Backgrounds: You will receive your photos in an online gallery. You will receive an email from Olivia R. Smith Photo which will contain an invitation to view your gallery on pixieset. Galleries take about three weeks to deliver.

Horse Shows: You will receive your photos 1-3 business days after purchase. You will receive an email from WeTransfer, which will contain a link to download your photos.
